bought the cd’s , both of them , and yes , the idea is good , in theory , putting together tunes in sets .
in practice it sounds dire .
is there any chance that ye could reissue the recordings , without the jcb’s (accordians)drowning out the music ? (and needless to say , the musicians )
i can see from the listing on the cd’s , that there are often 2 , maybe 3 , fiddles and at least one flute player and a harper no less .
that’s what the listing says , but my ears say , accordians , and so wide a tuning on them , as to kill everything else on the recording .
what a pity , what a waste of money , both yours and mine .

In my opinion, I got a better balance on the CDs for Book 2 than for Book 1, which were admittedly a bit accordion heavy. On the other hand, it does sound a lot like a real session, which was kind of the point.
When I mix Book 3, I’ll try and bring out individual instruments more, and I’ll almost certainly use smaller groups in the recording process to get a more intimate sound. I really don’t have the resources to re-issue books 1 and 2, though.—Breandán

im looking for songs and a cd book of same

I learned parts of this from staff music years ago on flute from a website, but forgot the name. I’m so glad I found this site and put together the tune and name in my head again, so that I can properly learn it this time!
