Waterford County Fleadh Cheoil Programme of Events
This year’s Waterford County Fleadh Cheoil is to be held in Ballyduff Upper on the weekend of 9th, 10th, 11th May. It is expected to be the usual mix of high standard competition, as well as traditional entertainment and craic. On the weekend, head to the Fleadh office in St. Michael’s Hall for any information.
Friday 9th May
7pm - Set-dancing competitions in St. Michael’s Hall. 9.30pm - Singing session in The Log Cabin pub.
Saturday 10th May
3-5pm - Workshop performed by Seamus Begley including the slides and polkas for which his fame began. This will suit musicians and singers including accordion, fiddle, whistle, and flute 8.30pm - Special concert with Seamus Begley and Tim Edey in St. Michael’s Hall. We are privileged to host these internationally-known musicians. Box-player Seamus Begley of “Begley and Cooney” fame, and Tim Edey, a guitar virtuoso also accomplished on no less than 10 instruments. Admission is €15, and booking number is 058-60330. Sunday 11th May
11am - Traditional mass 12 noon - Music and singing competitions in the National School and St. Michael’s Hall. Throughout the day - Street entertainment and pub sessions.
Most importantly, it is vital that entries are in before the closing date of Friday 18th April. Contact your local branch secretary for information or County Secretary Martin Forrestal on 086-0874409 for entries. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Comhaltas website.
