The Leinster Fleadh will be held in Dublin (Ballinteer/Dundrum) from July 7-13, 2008. For more information, please visit the fleadh website at http://www.leinsterfleadh.com.
Competitions
The music, comhrá and singing competitions will be held in Ballinteer Community School, Ballinteer on Sat. and Sun. 12th and 13th July commencing at 10.00 am on both days, with the exception of the Ceilí band comps, which will be held in Amharclann Naithí in the same complex as Scoil Naithíí.
Set, Half-Set and Ceilí dancing competitions will be held in St Attracta’s School, Ballinteer, beside Ballinteer Community School on Saturday 12th July commencing at 10.30am.
Sean Nó dancing and Traditional Solo Step Dancing competitions will also be held.
A Park and Ride system will operate on Sat and Sun with buses taking competitors and Fleadh visitors from Ballinteer Community School to Dundrum Town Centre. Only people who have purchased a wristband at the entrance to Ballinteer Community School will be permitted to use the buses. Everyone including competitors must buy a wristband on both Sat. and Sun.
Events
A Summer School will be held in Taney Parish Hall, Dundrum from Monday 7th July to Friday 11th with the emphasis of learning traditional music through the idiom of song. Pupils will learn music and dancing also. It will run from 10.00am to 3.00pm and will cost €10 per day.
The Official opening of Fleadh Laighean 2008 will be held in Amharclann Naithí - Ballinteer, at 8.00pm on Friday 11th July.
There will be a night of unaccompanied singing in the Taney Parish Hall, Dundrum on Saturday night 12th July starting 8.00pm.
There will be dancing exhibitions on Sat 12th and Sun 13th July in Dundrum Shopping Centre as well as performances from Fleadh music competition winners from 12.30pm to 6.30pm.
